The forecast may have indicated clear skies on Saturday evening, but there was a thick cloud of excitement inside Palmer Ridge High School’s gym by the end of the night. Would the Lewis-Palmer boys varsity basketball team once again defeat Palmer Ridge?

Within the first few minutes of the game, Palmer Ridge took a lead with their defensive skills.

Lewis-Palmer boys started out a bit weak, but the Rowdy Rangers kept up the high spirits on the sidelines. It boiled down to whether LP would lose their second game out of 17 so far, or PR would make a great win against the best basketball team in the state.

“I think it is a special experience and great for the community,” said Palmer Ridge head coach Nick Mayer.

LP made a comeback during the third and fourth quarter. It took many of the boys on the team to work together using teamwork and skills, to finally get ahead as they were trailing by a few points most of the game.

As the game began to intensify, parents shouted from the stands as the players pushed and shoved for the victory.

Jordan Scott (#5) was so determined to win that he fouled out with 9.1 seconds on the clock during the third quarter.

By the final quarter of the game, the LP boys were close to practically beating their rival school.

All the holding and fouls LP gained had brought them thirty points ahead of Palmer Ridge. All the extra players on the LP side were called in to finish the game, with a final score of Lewis-Palmer 69 to Palmer Ridge 39.

“Hopefully, we can continue getting better and make this an exciting game for many years to come,” said Mayer.
