The newly opened restaurant, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers, has the whole town of Monument in a buzz. A building that previously housed a Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant, the latest eating establishment made its début in a huge way and has people coming by the boatloads to get a taste of the food that this place has to offer.

Freddy’s, located in the Wal-Mart shopping center, is now the seventh fast food franchise of its kind in the state of Colorado. Originating in Wichita, Kansas in the 1950’s, it is known around the United States for its delicious custard and juicy steak burger.

Freddy’s has better quality food than most restaurants. We make everything fresh,” Junior and employee Jessica Ryan said. “We don’t have anything made ahead of time. It’s all made on the spot.”

Most people who frequent Freddy’s are greeted by the friendly people and the homey atmosphere. The higher prices match the quality of the food. Although most people think the prices at Freddy’s are too high.

“At first I thought it was expensive, but I get a good amount of food I paid for,” Junior Drew Swanson said.

Although most people love Freddy’s, there are some noticing the flaws about the restaurant. The restaurant seems to have more employees than other fast food establishments in the area.

“There are way too many people who work there,” Junior Jenna Baran said. “I feel like there are too many people standing around and that have nothing to do.”

Even though the food at Freddy’s is all fresh, some people have different opinions about the quality of the food. “They can improve on their custard. The pictures look better than the actual custard I was served,” Swanson said.

The verdict is not out on whether or not Freddy’s can make it in Monument. “I don’t think they’re going to be around that long. I honestly think it’s going to die down, and people aren’t going to go there anymore,” Swanson said.

Even though most in Monument want the new restaurant to last, the only thing we can do is continue to visit the restaurant see what Freddy’s has to offer.
