That amazing moment when people say there might be a potential snow day. It starts getting cold and the sky starts clouding up, and everyone knows its coming.

The weatherman is predicting at least a couple inches and students find themselves looking out the window every hour to see if the snow had started falling yet.

Students start making plans and decide that it isn’t worth it to do their homework for the next day. And then comes the moment everyone’s been waiting for.

The next morning turning on the news station and waiting in suspense to see your school show up in everyone’s favorite category. Printed in big capital letters. CLOSED.

Initially when a student realizes that it is a snow day the first move is to go back to sleep. “As soon as I wake up I usually check to see if we have a snow day. If we do I crawl right back into bed for another 3 hours. It’s a great way to catch up on sleep,” Senior Katie Adams said.

Once the morning’s sleep is over, the fun of the snow day starts. Not having to go to school students’ schedules are open, and they are free to do what they want with their day.

“I usually relax on snow days. It’s nice not to have to go to school; I can stay home and hang out,” Junior Morgan Henderson said.

Some people find other ways to spend time during their snow days. They can be very helpful by giving extra time to do unfinished work from the previous day.

“If there was any homework from that day it’s great because I don’t have to do it until the next day. But no one ever does homework on snow days.” Adams said.

When the fun of the snow is over students are faced with going back to school the next day.

“I hate having to go back to school after a snow day. I’m really in a bad mood and the day is always really long,” Sophmore Josh Harrold said.

Snow days are always a great as an occasional break from school and is a day for rest and relaxation. Most students take it easy and spend time with their friends. But no matter how great the day we all always have to go back to school the next day.
