Girls at Lewis-Palmer High School are beginning their hunt to find the perfect prom dress. The ladies are shopping both online and in stores to make sure they look stunning when they dance the night away.

One of the major issues when shopping for prom dresses is figuring out what features are a priority. Many girls this year are searching for dresses that are comfortable to dance in, yet very detailed in the design.

“I really wanted to find a strapless dress that was flowing and not too tight fitting,” said junior Alex Vasser, who recently bought her prom dress online.

Even though some girls are ordering their dresses online, there is also a large number of girls who bought theirs in stores. There are so many choices for stores to go to, yet girls never know which one is the best place to shop.

A few of the popular places to get prom dresses include Deb, Nordstrom, Macy’s and other major department stores. But if a girl really wants to find a one of a kind dress, she will need to go to a specialty shop such as a bridal store or a privately owned business.

“I bought my dress from a bridal shop in Denver called Bella Donna,” said junior Jenna Baran.

The biggest problem girls have when shopping for prom is staying within a price range. It’s always a good idea for girls to set a price limit before trying on an expensive dress and falling in love with it, not realizing it’s way out of their budget.

“My goal was to not go over $300, and the dress I bought only cost $200,” Vasser said.

The bottom line is girls need to make sure they know their spending limit and check those price tags before trying on dresses. That way they can save money while finding the ideal prom dress.

“My advice to girls is if you’re planning on buying a dress online, go to a store first and try on a few dresses to find out what type of dresses fit you best,” Vasser said.
