Draw Something to pass the time away

The opponent guessed the picture correctly with ease. Some people have a extreme talent when it comes to drawing, which can make guessing way easier in this game.

The latest fad in the app world today is the game created by OMGPOP called Draw Something. Teenagers across the country are engaging in this multiplayer online game which is available for iPhone, iPad, any android phone or even on Facebook.

Draw Something can be either downloaded for free, or the full version can be downloaded for $0.99. The only perks of buying the full app are more words to choose from and no advertisements in between turns.

While playing, each player takes turns drawing pictures and then guessing what the other person draws. Before the player draws, they get to choose between an easy, medium or hard phrase to doodle. The more difficult words the player chooses to draw, the more coins the player and their opponent will receive.

Once a player has collected enough coins, they can buy color packs. Color packs cost 249 coins and contain five new colors in each pack. Buying these can benefit the artist since it makes it easier to draw whichever word they choose.

“I’ve bought four color packs since I’ve started playing,” freshman Maddy Trujillo said.

Another useful way someone could spend their coins is by buying bombs. Bombs cost 400 coins for a bundle of ten, and they can either be used to give the player new word choices to draw or to narrow down which letters are used in what the opponent is guessing.

But what many people don’t realize is that great artists aren’t the only people who can succeed in this game. The trick is to being clever in a way where the picture can be easily guessed.

“It’s hard to draw something difficult that they couldn’t guess without just writing it out,” junior Matt Prudhomme said.

But figuring out how to draw those tough words is one of the many things that makes this game so fun.  It’s actually so enjoyable that many students are spending massive amounts of their free time playing this game.

“I play all the time and any chance I get,” Trujillo said.

An interesting part of this game is that there really isn’t a true “winner” when playing. So basically the game is played for the fun of being able to play with people you know and the pretty colors of course.
