Documentation is a bust

Documentation is a bust

Megan Lawson, Ranger Review Reporter

Students at Lewis-Palmer only being allowed to miss more than 8 class periods a semester caused problems for many.  If a student has more than 8 class periods missed even if they are excused. Regardless if a student is fifteen minutes or more late from a class this also counts as an absence and it will count as part of documentation.

Parents should have the responsibility to call their child out anytime and a child should not be punished for something they can not help. The only way you can avoid documentation is by getting a doctors note or  court appearance papers.

If an absence is excused the school should not be able to put restrictions on that. Parents have more power and authority over their child than the school administrative staff does.

Students shake their heads in frustration when it comes to documentation. It is highly understandable when when a student skips or the absence is unexcused.

Documentation is over board and it is happening way to much. There are other things that the admin should be more worried about. Students missing a class more than 8 times a semester should not be a top priority.

When being put on documentation it is a stressful thing because now the student is unable to miss any class no matter how many absences in that class they have. As soon as they miss more than 8 class periods of one class even if the student has 5 missed periods in one class it doesn’t matter, they will receive another detention.

You can find in the student handbook the information on documentation in the 2011-2012 edition.
