Freshman and Link leaders wait to begin freshman orientation.

Link is a program here at Lewis-Palmer that helps out the freshmen for their first intimidating year in high school. As a freshman, coming to a school that is extremely different from middle school can be incredibly scary. Juniors and seniors help show the freshmen around on the day before school begins in hopes that they can make their Link kids’ first years a little easier.

Not only do they help the day before, but juniors and seniors also try to spend as much time as their schedules allow them to throughout the school year. Still, bringing their freshmen some yummy goodies and encouraging notes to do well throughout their first year is a great incentive these kids get.

Link orientation was the day before school began, and the freshmen appeared to be having a blast.

English teacher Kendra Boone and Science teacher Korrena De have been the sponsors for three years now and are having a great time.

Link is a very fun and exciting program to be in. Allowing the upperclassmen to help the underclassmen is a great thing because the upperclassmen know what it was like to be in the freshmen class’s shoes, and know how to make their younger classmates’ first year a positive time that they will never forget.
