Seniors celebrate the start of their last year in high school at the annual senior sunrise event

Cayla Vitro, Ranger Review Reporter

Senior year.. It never really felt like we would ever make it this far. It still feels as though the class of 2013 will always be the mischievous eighth grade class from Creekside Middle School. Come to think of it, the year 2013 is very suitable for this particular class, the “unlucky 13” if you will.

This senior class is unlike any other. We have the widest variety of students imaginable. There are the brightest brainiacs and laziest slackers, some of the strongest jocks, pretty girls living the so called popular life, sporty girls, skater guys, class clowns and the list goes on, yet somehow we all manage to be cohesive. Yes, there are plenty of cliché cliques but we still get along through our differences.

Teachers dreaded our arrival at both high schools because we were known as the class that was the hardest to handle, the rowdiest and the wildest. We grew up together in this small town of Monument, some of us from as young as six years old. Familiar faces are all around us and it’s scary to think about not being here anymore. The class of 2013 also grew in size with the addition of many new students along the way who fit right in.

I can’t help but compare our class to the Lost Boys of Peter Pan. None of us want to grow up; if we could, we would stay forever in this world filled with our friends and the comfort that only a hometown can bring. Being thrown into a new world is terrifying, but the friendships we made here shaped who we will be for the rest of our lives. So we grew up, and as much as we all don’t want to admit it, our time has come. However, this class will not leave Lewis-Palmer High School without leaving the 2013 mark. We are forever to be known as the crazies, the wild and uncontrollable. So live up to that name this year and the rest of your life, go out with a Rowdy Ranger bang!
