Lewis-Palmer’s Varsity boys soccer team has adopted a Make-a-Wish child. Keagan Sanders is six years old and suffering from cystic fibrosis.

The team adopted Keagan in the beginning of the season thanks to one of the captain’s mother, Ann Heer. Heer does a lot with all the volunteer programs, and she thought it would be a good way to help someone out.

For every goal scored during the season, $62 goes towards Keagan’s wish to go to Disneyworld. The total money they have raised from thirty-eight goals was $2,356.00. Because each wish costs between $7,000 and $8,000, the team will be granting a partial wish to this deserving young boy.

“Because of the pledge towards each goal, it inspires us to try to score more,” soccer captain Peyton Briscoe said.

During homecoming week, LP students also had the opportunity to participate in the cause. They were able to purchase a star for $1 or make a donation between 50 cents and $20 for the cause, which raised $50 for Keagan.

Keagan attends as many of the boy’s games and practices he can, but due to his conditions, sometimes it is hard for him to be able to leave the house. He has even been invited to go to some of the Avalanche hockey games; the team has been helping his family as well.

Not only has this little boy brought the soccer team together for a cause, Keagan has a great start to experiencing his wish of getting to visit Disneyworld soon.
