Snow has been seen on Pikes Peak for about a week now. The weather is getting colder and monument is inching towards freezing temperatures at night.

Many students are getting ready for the new season. Some students ski or snowboard but some talented students are able to do both.

“I’m just excited to start snowboarding again; I can’t wait to get back on the slopes and just ride. I’m getting the Breckenridge season pass this year,” freshman, Siera Vari said.

Opening day for Loveland and Arapahoe Basin Ski Resorts is Monday, October 15th. Both resorts are making snow and competing to open first.

Copper Mountain’s opening day is set for Sunday, November 4th. Breckenridge is set to open Saturday, November 10th, and closely following is Vail Ski Resort opening on Friday, November 16th.

Freshman, Jourdan Valentine is eager for her racing season to start. Jourdan has been skiing since she was eighteen months old. She will be competing for the Loveland Racing Club this season.

“I’m ready for the snow, I’m ready for the frostbite, and I’m ready for my goggle tan to come back. I can’t wait for the start of the season,” Valentine said.

Students throughout the school are getting anxious to start the season. The resorts are starting to make snow and are preparing for the upcoming season.

“I’m excited for what seems like a forever drive into the mountains and the snow. I started skiing when I was three years old and started snowboarding when I was twelve,” freshman, Alexis Smith said.

There is less than two weeks until the start of the season and students are excited to hit the slopes.
