Study halls switch for the first time

Mrs. Oberndorfer is hard at work keeping track of her many study hall students.

The last week of September was the first week of switching study hall teachers. The students with A’s and B’s were sent to Mrs. Oberndorfer’s class, while students who are struggling with other classes were sent to Mrs. Schiefer or Mr. Benton.

Some students do believe the new system will help the students who are struggling with certain subjects. Sophomore Catherine Witt feels that the set up will be beneficial because students can get help when they need it.

Others, however, believe that the study hall changes implemented this year are not going to truly help the students.

“All they [students] did was switch rooms and that doesn’t really help at all,” said sophomore Joseph Scott.

Freshman Grayson McKeown also feels that switching study hall teachers monthly is not effective.

“I think that making the effort to go the teacher to improve your grades is more effective. I don’t see how the study hall teachers are helping bring up students’ grades because they are not really helping. They are just watching you do your homework,” said McKeown.

Some sophomores greatly prefer the study hall set up from the previous school year. The students liked that the freshmen and sophomores were kept in different classes and had the same teacher all throughout the year.
