Most IOS and Android apps always have brief time to shine; some become a necessity while others become a thing of the past. One social networking app that has soared through the charts and to on millions of teenager’s phones is Snapchat.

This creative app allows IOS and soon to be Android users to take photos of themselves and send them to a friend. But here’s the catch: the app only allows you to view the photo for 1-10 seconds. With this concept in mind, many people have taken some of the most creative and outrageous photos imaginable. I myself have successfully taken plenty of embarrassing pictures.

Snapchat is also an opportunity for many teens to practice in both unethical and illegal activities. Due to the short period of time a picture is up before it is permanently deleted, it is an excuse for them to get away with forms of behavior that are illegal.

Because of the number of illegal activities people are getting away with and the app not allowing you to screenshot the photo, it is hard for any law enforcement to crackdown on anything. I believe this be will a turning point in our culture. It will enables teens to slip through cracks and cause a problem for the morality of this culture.

I think Snapchat is one of those apps that will sweep through the media. For now it is known as a girly app. I also believe because of the controversial use of Snapchat, there could be a possibility that it could cause a stir, but for now I don’t believe it has reached its height of its popularity.
