Richard Pazmany is a foreign exchange student from the European country of Slovakia. He is currently a junior at Lewis-Palmer High School. He lives with the family of Brad Ellis, a sophomore at LP.

Richard has been going to LP since the beginning of the school year. His brother spent a year in Florida and that inspired Richard to come to school here in the US for some time.

He also decided to play football here. He was first exposed to football when visiting the US, since they don’t play American football in Slovakia. Football caught his interest and now he has an opportunity to play.

Pazmany likes living in the states because he thinks people here treat each other nicer than they do back in Slovakia. He says that people here are really good and help him out with adjusting to life here.

One adjustment that hasn’t been very enjoyable is the hours.

“In Slovakia, I could sleep in a lot later and the class days were shorter. School and classes here are a lot longer,” Pazmany said.

LP encourages students to play a sport as complicated as football, which he had never played before.

“When I first came to the states and saw football, I was like…what?” said Pazmany. “But I am really enjoying it.”

Overall Pazmany is still adjusting to life here, but he enjoys Colorado and will be going to Lewis-Palmer for the rest of the year.
