The Lewis- Palmer High School Cross Country team is sending seven runners to the state championship.

Among the qualifiers are the two senior Captains Jarrett Eller and Nate Rykerd as well as senior Spencer Shuman, sophomore Hunter Shuman, junior Christopher Ecklund, junior Ian McInroe and sophomore Austin Bach.

“I train extensively and solely by running for an extended period of time, very quickly,” senior Nate Rykerd said.

This is the third year in a row LP has had qualifiers for state. Everyone is excited.

To train, the team runs, stretches, eats to increase performance, has dance parties after practice and genuinely enjoy each other and being a part of the team.

All of the qualifiers also run on the track team in the spring, but some also participate in other sports. Nate Rykerd spends his winters wrestling, while Austin Bach plays for the basketball team.

All of the boys are excited for the state competition and hope to bring home some champion titles.
