“The Vow”, a book that was inspired by true events, written by Kim and Krickitt Carpenter with Dana Wilkerson, is considered a national best seller. It is a story that illustrates the real importance in family and commitment that one may occasionally forget.

The heart wrenching story tells about the actual events that occurred in the 1990’s when Kim and Krickitt were in a car accident only ten weeks after their marriage. Although they both survived, Krickitt awoke in the hospital without the memory of her supposed husband.

The accident caused her to lose 18 months of her memory. However, Krickitt maintained her strong faith and Kim was still willing to commit to the marriage; no matter how much of his effort and time it would take.

When the bestseller was made into a movie, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, it took in over 40 million dollars its opening weekend. The book, “The Vow” also had additional advancements. In addition to its No. 1 rank on the Times non-fiction best-seller list, it also earned the No. 7 spot for combined non-fiction print and e-books.

Over time, Kim and Krickitt Carpenter completely restructured their relationship, renewed their vows, and celebrated a second wedding ceremony.  In a sense they were starting over, but in another they were just picking up where they left off.

The book had originally been released in 2000, but it was re-launched February of 2010 and ended up being more successful than planned. In addition to the brilliant book, Kim and Krickitt updated their inspiring story and contributed real pictures to the book.

Though “The Vow” was terribly sad, it had an enticing story line, and  it was certainly a book worth reading.
