On November 15th, 16th and 17th, Lewis-Palmer High School’s musical Legally Blonde was performed. Starring Michaela Okland as the role of Elle Woods, and Colton West as Warner Huntington III, the musical was a huge hit.

The musical tells the story of a girl, Elle Woods, who is hopelessly in love with her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III. When Elle is expecting a marriage proposal, she is shocked by a break-up instead.

Since Warner told her that she wasn’t serious enough to be his fiancé, Elle decides to prove him wrong by following him to Harvard Law School. To his surprise, she is accepted into Harvard and shows that she is both intelligent and good enough to be his wife by successfully defending Brooke Wyndham, an exercise queen, in her murder trial.

Along the way, she makes friends with a man at Harvard named Emmett Forrest, played by Wyatt Cochran, and a hairdresser named Paulette, played by Laura Douthit. By the end of the trial, Elle realizes that Warner isn’t the right guy for her, and that Emmett is her true love.

The storyline was both heartwarming and dramatic, which was shown through various songs and creative choreography danced by the chorus. The actors did an amazing job of telling the story and engaging their audience.

Another thing that added to the greatness of the musical was the intricate sets. The great amounts time and effort put into the creation of the props and sets really added to the overall imagery and helped the audience to get engaged in the story.

Lewis-Palmer has produced many plays and musicals in the past, but I found Legally Blonde to be exceptionally well-performed and entertaining.
