The 2008 Turkey Trot LoGo

Allison McPike, Ranger Review Reporter

The turkey trot run, sponsored by the YMCA, is approximately 5 kilometers long and takes place at the Briargate Family YMCA on November 22. The entry fee is $23.00 and when participants register they get a free t-shirt.
The money for the entry fee goes to support and help to provide opportunities for lower income families to participate in YMCA programs and memberships.
This is the 15th annual turkey trot in Colorado and each year it gets more popular. Lastyear over 1,000 people ran in the 5K fundraiser and they expect an even better turn out this year.

People plan on running the 5k this year for health and for fun. For anyone wanting to get into running for multiple charity events visit runcolorado.org. To sign up for a run this year a participant can visit the local Monument YMCA or any YMCA closest to them.
Top male and female runners in each age division get an award for a great run. All other participants will get the satisfaction of having that second piece of pumpkin pie knowing all of the calories they will be burning at the run.
Senior, Patrick Munn, plans on running the Turkey Trot this year, he has run it for the past three years and really enjoys it. He usually doesn’t eat breakfast afterwards because he likes to save room for the gigantic thanks giving dinner his family makes.
“I don’t like getting up early but I do what I can and I own that thing” Munn said.
