On February 8, 2013 Identity Thief, staring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy was released into theatres across the country.

Jason Bateman plays Sandy Bigelow Patterson, a family man who has just learned that his identity has been stolen by a woman named Diana, in Florida. In order to keep his job and his money, he must travel to Florida to bring the women back to Colorado and turn her in to the police.

Diana is living the dream on the outskirts of Miami all at Sandy’s expense. She is the queen of retail and buys whatever her heart desires.

Sandy has a family that is rapidly expanding and a brand new job that keeps him busy. The last thing he needs is a week away to bring this felon back before his world comes crumbling down.

I saw Identity Thief recently and thought it was very funny. There were parts of Sandy and Diana’s journey back to Colorado that were very unrealistic, yet pretty entertaining.

Bateman did a great job at portraying an uptight father concerned about his family’s well-being. His role was similar to those he has played in the past in movies such as Hancock and Couples Retreat.

Melissa McCarthy was hilarious and charismatic in her role as the other Sandy Patterson. She portrayed he role as a harmless theft with a feisty personality perfectly.

Over all I thought Identity Thief was entertaining and fun to watch. I would recommend this movie to my friends and family.
