In Warm Bodies the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet is retold with a fun, dark, twist.  The movie features a young cast and provides a zombie love story that appeals to Twilight fans.

Nicholas Hoult stars as “R,” a cute, sensitive zombie who occasionally eats people’s brains. R spends his days wandering an abandoned airport with the other zombies.

Through a series of self-mocking monologues, the audience learns that even though he is dead, R has managed to retain his humanity and his only wish is to be human again.

On a hunting trip for human brains, R and his fellow zombies run into a group of human teenagers looking for medical supplies. Across a room of zombies feeding on humans, R spots a girl named Julie, played by Teresa Palmer.

After seeing the enchanting Julie, R kills her boyfriend and learns about her through the memories he inherits from devouring her boyfriend’s brain. Julie lives in a city surrounded by a concrete wall to keep out the zombies.

Once he’s done feasting on her boyfriend, R brings Julie back to his home in an abandoned airplane. R keeps her safe against the other zombies, proving he just wants to be loved and less lonely.

They listen to old vinyl records, and with Julie’s love, R learns to talk and become human again. Julie and R start a revolution, as R’s fellow zombies become more and more human.

A turning point for R is when he starts to dream again, after this R and his fellow zombies are sure they can regain their humanity.  The zombies invade Julie’s city and help fight evil, lifeless corpses with the humans.

Warm Bodies seems like a collection of past movies. It is the classic love story of star crossed lovers, with the supernatural, brooding male lead that will remind the audience of the blockbuster Twilight Saga.

The film’s upbeat indie music will appeal to its young teenage audience. Hoult also makes the film with his lovable performance.

Warm Bodies does not take any risks, or provide anything unique to the audience, but it is a fun film never the less.
