Don’t let the naked Barbie on the cover fool you, “Anatomy of a Single Girl” is more than meets the eye. The book is a continuation to Daria Sandowsky’s “Anatomy of a Boyfriend” where the main character, Dominique discovered love and physical intimacy during her senior year of high school.

“Anatomy of a Single Girl” continues to follow Dominique as she is leaving her freshman year of college for the summer. During her internship at a local hospital, Dominique meets Guy Davies, a very attractive and charming man. This summer fling influenced Dom to loosen up and just have fun.

During Dom and Guy’s summer fling, they forget the basics of a relationship and decide to be friends with benefits, emphasis on the benefits. Guy and Dom connect physically and the story takes a raunchy spin.

This teenage version of “50 Shades of Grey” was a shocking book to read. I was not expecting the book to have such a scandalous twist. The book is a young adult book, but I would not recommend it to any teenager under the age of 15.

Even though the book is a bit scandalous, it is one that many girls can relate to. Since her break up at the beginning of her freshman year at Tulane, Dom has been struggling to get over her ex-boyfriend Wes. Hanging out with Guy helped Dom not think about Wes, but he is always there in the back of her mind. Fresh out of a relationship, I can relate to Dom and her struggles to get over her ex.

Over all, I found the book interesting and not like the normal, common “teenage love story”. It is unexpected, exciting, fun, and defiantly addicting. I would recommend this easy read to any young adult.
