Prom is just around the corner for students at Lewis-Palmer High School, and girls are on the hunt for that perfect dress to impress their dates. This would seem like a simple task, but girls are struggling to figure out where they should buy their dresses from, what style they want, and how much money they want to spend.

Some girls argue that prom is the most important night of their high school career and therefore a large budget is appropriate when buying a dress.

“I think girls could spend around $200 on a prom dress,” senior Randi Fluegel said.

But other girls claim that prom is only one night, so there is no point in spending a lot of money on a dress you won’t wear again.

“$100 is a good amount to spend on a dress for prom,” junior Briana Knop said.

No matter how much girls are willing to spend on the dress, there’s always the issue of deciding which place to buy the dress from. Most girls like to buy their dresses online because there is a wider variety and better deals.

“If girls buy a dress online, they should try it on before they order it,” Knop said.

One way girls can save money is by shopping from clearance racks or borrowing a dress from a friend. Then girls can spend that extra cash on shoes and accessories.

Another thing girls should keep in mind while shopping is to start searching for that perfect dress ahead of time so that they can try on a wide variety of styles and designs. Otherwise, they might end up regretting their dress choice.

“Girls need to make sure they love the dress and look good in it,” Fluegel said.

Whether they find their dream dress at the thrift store or at a designer boutique, that perfect dress is out there for everyone. Prom night will be a night to remember for students at Lewis-Palmer and girls will dance the night away in beautiful dresses from everywhere imaginable.
