Prom is one of the most important events for most juniors and seniors, and even some lucky underclassman. This year, prom is held on April 19, 2013 at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado.

For girls prom is all about finding the perfect dress, while for guys it’s about finding the perfect date. Guys and girls alike do have the same concern when it comes to the price of the event.

For many girls it is extremely tough to find a dress under $100 and still find money to get their hair and nails done as well. For guys with a date, the pressure to pay for everything for two people is even more immense.

With a couples ticket costing $65, after prom costing $20 per person, the cost of dinner for two, and even a limo, boys a expected to hand over the cash for everything.

As an upperclassman you want to have the best experience possible without emptying your bank account.

For girls that can’t afford a new expensive dress, borrowing one from a friend or even renting one could be an option. There are multiple websites that will send you an inexpensive dress to rent and you simply mail it back after your event.

Almost all guys rent a tuxedo instead of purchasing, which is also a great way to save money.

A cheaper option for dinner could be cooking at someone’s house or just going somewhere inexpensive or family owned. When it comes to a limo it is best to have a large group to lower the price per person. Some companies are even willing to negotiate price based on hour.

For juniors it is not necessary to spend a lot of money due to the fact that they have next year. For seniors however, this is the last chance to make it count and often the last high school event before graduation.

Prom is a great event that can often be less expensive if planned the right way.
