Part of preparing for college may include visiting the campus to get a better feel for the environment.

As the end of the school year rapidly approaches, nearly all of LP seniors are growing more excited about starting their college careers in the fall. Many seniors have been preparing for college for a very long time.

Preparation for college entails a lot of work for most seniors. They spent a good majority of their junior year applying to countless universities and colleges.

The seniors have also explored the many different majors that they could take. Having an idea about what they wish to major in as well as where they want to attend college is a big decision.

“Knowing what you want to do is important. It’s important knowing what you want to major in and where you want to go,” senior Jordyn Trader said.

Preparing for college life also comes with several burdens. Figuring out where they will live on campus, their schedules and room and board can be very stressful.

When time starts to run out the reality of how quickly college is approaching becomes more real and worries start to arise. Most of the pressure comes from family members who simply want to ensure that their child will definitely go to college.

“My mom was telling me, ‘You have to get it done.’ The pressure comes from the fact that other people want you to do well,” Trader said.

Although getting ready for college comes with its struggles, most seniors are eager to leave the nest and live on their own.

“I can’t wait to get out of the house and meet new people. The whole experience is what I am excited for,” Trader said.

Preparing for college is something that a majority of students must go through eventually. Dealing with the stresses is a small price to pay in exchange for the experience of a lifetime.
