Trouble with dressing according to weather

To say the least, Colorado has some very sporadic weather that could easily be compared to a roller coaster. A surprise snowfall or two always come at some point in the middle of spring, among lovely days that have been in the 60’s, throwing off everyone’s outfit plans. The unpredictable weather makes it difficult to decide what to wear in order to dress weather appropriately.

All over the world; not just in the small, exclusive town of Monument, Colorado, people are ambitious to spring into warmer seasons. Sweaters and boots were cozy and nice while they lasted but as a whole, it seems people tend to get tired of wearing layer upon layer in the summer-nearing month of April.

Students at Lewis-Palmer, specifically girls, have noticeably begun pulling all of their long-lost shorts and sandals out of the back of their closets. Although there are still spots around town sporting piles of snow that refuse to melt, a mere prediction for a 50 degree day is usually enough to evoke almost every girl at Lewis-Palmer to wear an outfit they’d wear on a day in the heat of summer.

In a way, this shows that Colorado people are tough. We’re willing to push through and fight for a warm, beautiful spring and summer no matter the cost; even if goose bumps are a side effect. By wearing clothing that protests the cold, people are just trying to communicate their anticipation for a fun-filled summer. Students at Lewis-Palmer specifically are beyond ecstatic for summer, and they show this by breaking out all of their old warm-weather favorites or buying some new clothes to soon be their favorites.

While at times it can get annoying for girls to wear shorts with disregard to the cold, winter-like weather, it would be hypocritical to say that I never do it. I’m looking forward to summer and counting the days until May 23rd; therefore, I wear summery clothes sometimes during the Spring months to express my anxiousness for warmer, sunnier days.

I think people have the right to wear whatever they choose to wear, especially in the unpredictable state of Colorado where it is hard to dress according to the weather.
