On April 15, just before 3:00 pm, multiple explosions devastated the Boston Marathon. Over 140 victims were injured, and several were killed.

The first bomb went off near the finish line of the race. Then the next bomb went off just feet away a few seconds later. Both participants and people on the sidelines suffered from the explosions and became engulfed in the smoke and ground shaking impacts.

“I got a text that it happened and I thought the person was joking, and told him that it wasn’t funny,” senior Cassidy Tompkins said.

Buildings and offices blew up from the blasts causing shattered glass and remnants to scatter across streets and sidewalks. Many people were horrified when they saw the photos of blood and glass dispersed throughout the area.

“When I saw it on the news, it freaked me out because I really wanted to run a marathon someday and now I’m too afraid to,” Tompkins said.

As of right now, the person responsible for these attacks has yet to be found. Authorities have yet to find any suspects and cannot pin point any possible motives as to why someone would commit such a terrible crime.

“I think the explosions could have been a result from a terrorist attack,” senior Kianna Huwe said.

Regardless of who did it or what the cause was, it still happened and devastated the nation. Police and government authorities are doing their best to get to the bottom of this situation to give answers to the many questioning American citizens.
