Senior Joe Dell waits for the perfect pitch

Senior Joe Dell waits for the perfect pitch

As the school year winds down, the LP baseball team is still hard at work. The team stands at 5-9 on the season under head coach Tom McCabe. Unfortunately, the boys lost to Palmer Ridge Monday, April 29th in a hard fought battle that went into extra innings.

The Rangers rallied in the 7th inning scoring three runs to tie the game. Regardless, LP didn’t have an answer when the Bears scored three more runs in the 8th inning. Luckily, the boys will have a shot at redemption when they play Palmer Ridge again Monday, May 6th.

Having been to almost every type of sporting event here at LP, I highly recommend attending a baseball game.  Sadly, I watched my first Rangers baseball game as a senior. I am hoping more students will get to witness the magic that goes on at the baseball field.

Some of Lewis-Palmer’s finest students are also great baseball players. Our own student-body president, Matt Prudhomme, can consistently be seen cranking homeruns out of the ball park. Nathan Conner who acquired the nickname “Mr. Perfect” by his teammates is in-charge of the outfield. Lastly, there is Ricky Anderson who can occasionally be seen as a pinch runner for some of the players.

Fan favorites Sean Grundman and Joe Dell always have crazed enthusiasts screaming their names as they go up to bat. The players definitely perform better when they have the support of the crowd behind them.

As the weather begins to warm up, I can’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon than to be at a baseball game. After all, it is America’s pastime. Even better: admission is free. The season is coming to an end and the opportunity to see a game is dwindling.

Please come out and support the Lewis-Palmer baseball team. I guarantee it will be worth the time.
