Students at Lewis Palmer High School are beginning to study hard for finals. Final reviews start Friday May 17th and the first final will initiate on Monday May 20th.

Finals symbolize the end of a semester, or in this case, the end of the school year. Most kids dread finals because they can drop your grade if you do poorly. Other kids think of finals as a good thing because the school year will be over soon.

“I do not like finals because they cause me to stress, but I know that when finals are all over I can relax and have time off from school,” freshman Hannah Chipman said.

Finals can also become stressful because kids worry about doing badly on the tests. Some students stay up all night studying for finals.

“I’m not very excited about finals because they make me feel like if I don’t do well I will not get a good grade in the class. They are a long test and I cannot stair at a test for that long without day dreaming,” sophomore Nicholas Kovar said.

The test can sometimes be hard to focus on because summer is almost here and students are exhausted from the school year.

Many students exhibit test anxiety. Test anxiety is when students become so over whelmed with the thought of not finishing on time they start psyching themselves out.  They believe that they will not do well on the test and they will end up not getting a good grade in the student’s class.

“I am happy because I am worn out from a long year. Finals will be hard to concentrate on but I know I’m almost done,” senior Richie Dunston said.

Finals are a hard time in school because the schedule is different and teachers are stressed. Students are freaking out about how well they will do on the test, but finals represent the end of another school year. The beginning of summer will be upon us soon and students will be able to relax all summer until next year.
