Students enjoy dancing at LP’s homecoming dance 2012

The start of the new school year brings homework, studying, early alarms, as well as the anticipation of the homecoming football game and dance. In the past homecoming dances have all been held about a month after the school year commences, or even in October, this year the homecoming dance is going to be held three weeks into school. This early date is giving students hardly any time to find dates, and dresses and dinner arrangements for the special night.

“I think that the date of the dance is way too early in the school year, I think that once it’s over, this first semester is going to be really boring with nothing to look forward to. The school should have done a better job of spreading out all the activities going on”, junior Dana Doremus said.

The homecoming dance is based off the date of the homecoming football game, which is selected by the football coaches of LP. The coaches try to best select a game that they believe LP will win to serve as the homecoming game, and as protocol, the dance follows the next night.
“I knew that the date of homecoming was chosen depending on the football game the coaches chose, but I don’t think that really matters. It would be great to win the homecoming game but I feel like the coaches could have picked a later date because there is always a chance that LP wouldn’t win”, junior Michaela Okland said.

Even though the date of the football game and dance are earlier than originally anticipated, there is not any way to change this. LP dances in the past have always held high attendance records, and regardless of the early date, students are sure to enjoy this one.
