New York Fashion Week for approaching 2014 fashions began on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Some of the popular fashions were plaid, patterned suits, and miniskirts.

These styles are much more professional than cute. This style will pertain to are women in their mid-20s to early 30s.

These fashions are very different from the 2013 biggest fashion trends, which included emerald greens, oversized coats, and leather. Students at LP had a dissimilar view on the most popular fashions of this past year.

“I don’t think the way I dress is unique, but I still like it. My favorite trend of 2013 is yoga pants,” said freshman Kensley Ott.

What teenagers and adults consider fashionable is usually varied. Students tend to drift more toward casual or comfortable clothing, for example leggings, dresses, or skirts.

“I think the 2013 biggest trends were oversized clothing and tight pants. Although, I don’t wear this, I think it is cute on other people. I predict that the future trends are bright colors because bright and bold is in,” said junior Sabrina Pray.

Bright and bold was not seen as much this year as last year. The designers use a lot of neutral colors, for example in plaid pieces and suits.

“I don’t like plaid because it’s not a staple piece. You can’t match a plaid shirt with everything but you can match a leather jacket with so many different outfits. Patterned suits are unprofessional and are too busy to be worn in a business environment,” said junior Amber Saychek. “These fashions aren’t popular among teenagers because it’s not what younger generations are attracted to.”

Clothes seen in fashion week won’t be seen around school as much as in a commercial atmosphere.
