Many students have a loss of sleep because of their dedication to get good grades. Most students stay up later than they should, reduce their level of focus the following day, but homework is a requirement to stay on top of grades.

“I am usually late to school, especially when I have periods five through eight because those classes are my hardest so it takes me longer to finish the work. Staying up late definitely affects me the next day at school because I’m so tired from the other night, also it’s hard to focus and listen because all I want to do is sleep,” sophomore Terrance Cavanaugh said.

“My attitude towards school affects my work ethic big time when I stay up late because when I’m at school I don’t have the effort to do work in class and so then I have double the homework that night,” Cavanaugh said.

Commitment is big parts of doing homework, even if were tired and need to go to bed school work still needs to be finished. Results of finishing homework is the satisfaction of finishing something that was started and not giving up, also weight just falls right off everyone’s shoulders when it’s all finished.

“I normally stay up to about 12 at night because after school I go to hockey and get home at around 9 at night, and then I start my homework. Most of the time I am not late to school because my mom wakes me up even if I stayed up late to finish homework,” freshman Ben Barrett said.

“The worst part about staying up for home work is the next day my effort at school is poor, and all I want to do is sleep so I end up sleeping in class. When I do fall asleep, I miss all the class work so when I go home that night, I have double the homework and have to stay up late again,” Barrett said.

To go far in life, all this hard work and staying up late to finish homework will be worth it in the end. Especially if the work is good colleges will recognize the effort put in to get those grades the way they are.
