All eyes are on Elizabeth Schomburg to perform well, as she is now the lead in Lewis-Palmer High School’s musical The King and I. Schomburg, a senior, has participated in many roles throughout her high school career and is both excited and grateful. But she is also feeling the pressure of such a big role.

Though she enjoys being in the spotlight and sharing her talent, she is under a great deal of stress, with 70 pages of dialogue and a multitude of songs she must memorize before opening night.

All her friends and cast members are happy for her and knew she was the one for the part. Most students auditioning can’t help but guess who would get which role, and it was practically a unanimous guess that she would receive the lead part of Ms. Anna.

Even though she is under stress, she seems to be handling it well, still keeping her friendly and bright disposition.

Schomburg is not only excited to participate in yet another show, she is excited to get to make others happy and express her appreciation.

“It makes me happy when I can make other people happy. That’s what makes me happy. I’m most looking forward to closing night when we get to give directors gifts, because then I’ll finally have a chance to really tell Mr. Douthit and Mrs. Kennedy and all of the other people involved how much they mean to me and how important they’ve been to me throughout this,” senior Elizabeth Schomburg said.

The role could not have gone to anyone more deserving or prepared. With her natural talent and years of experience, Schomburg is sure to shine on that stage.
