LP students attend college fair

On October 2nd, representatives traveled to Palmer Ridge High School in order to educate the impressionable, young adults of District 38 on the perks of the colleges he or she represents. These reps goal was to pique interests in the students regarding various colleges of his or her dreams.

The reasons why students from LP and PR visited the college fair varied. Some attended it in order to acquire more information about the universities they have already been considering and others, to merely begin thinking about his or her future.

“I thought of it as very exciting, yet a little scary thinking about my future in that way already,” junior Hannah Fleming said.

Some of the representatives at the tables packed up their display items punctually at 7:30 but other tables, such as the one for CSU; a seemingly popular choice for district 38 students, didn’t get packed up until about 8.

“The line for CSU’s table was really long but I think it was definitely worth the wait,” Fleming said.

Students either went to the school with their friends; each with unique ideas for his or her future; or with parents. The recurring trend seemed to be recognized that friends were a comfortable accompaniment while parents provided special insight; many having gone through the college selection process themselves.

“I went to the college fair with a group of friends so that we could all explore our unknown futures together and discuss schools we’re each interested in,” junior Michaela Okland said.

The college fair at Palmer Ridge provided an extraordinary chance for the students of district 38 schools to make his or her way into grasping what he or she wants to do in the future. Juniors and seniors were expected to be the main attendants, but it’s never a bad idea to get a head start. Underclassmen were also present at the event and some upperclassmen wished they would’ve started thinking about college earlier than they did.

“I wish I would’ve looked into all of this earlier but after I went to the college fair and got more information about universities I’ve previously considered, I scheduled visits to CSU, CU, and Texas A and M. I’m really glad I went to the fair and learned more about those colleges; the information was really helpful,” junior Jessie Chulick said.

Palmer Ridge hosted an enriching event that provided helpful information to the students. It was just enough to get LP’s and PR’s students excited about their educational future.
