Gravity, a 2013 movie

Cheyanne Winkler, Student Reporter

I wasn’t planning on going to the movies to see Gravity, but after seeing it, I am really glad that I did. I had seen this movie in previews and didn’t think it was going to be very good. I didn’t think that there would be good acting because they had limited setting.

Sandra Bullock plays a medical engineer and George Clooney plays an astronaut.  They have to work together to survive after an accident leaves them adrift in space. The plot begins when debris starts flying towards the shuttle and they have no time to get away.

Bullock ends up floating away, unable to get ahold of anyone or find her way back to the shuttle. Eventually, after several attempt to make contact with others, Clooney finds her. They plan to go back to the shuttle and decide to figure out what they will do based on the condition of it.

Reaching their shuttle they saw it was completely destroyed, so they decide to head to another shuttle. When they get to it, the chord that was connecting them together broke apart.  Both of them try to grab ahold of something on the shuttle, thankfully bullock’s foot gets caught and she catches Clooney before he floats away.

He realizes that the chords that Bullock’s foot got caught on could not hold the both of them. He detaches himself from her. As he floats away he tells her how to get in the shuttle, where to go and how to get there.

She gets there, not without complications though. She makes it to the shuttle that he told her to go to. When she does, she gets inside and figures out how to work it after encountering even more complications.

The ending really surprised me. Of course I loved the ending, just as much as I loved every other part of the movie.  The movie turned out to be a really interesting, and attention grabbing movie.
