Last year when I was signing up for classes, I saw AP Environmental Science or (APES as the students refer to it) as an easy escape from physics. I had no idea that APES would become one of my favorite classes as well as something that really interests me.

Now that I have had about two months of the class I am starting to gain a real understanding and what it is teaching. APES is a class that teaches students about the earth and the environment and how different individuals and organisms interact and live amongst each other.

Something about APES that really interests me is the influence that humans have had on the environment. It surprises me how much people influence the environment and how people can end up causing more harm than benefit; most of the time that is the case.

Learning about the harm that humans cause to the environment is a huge motivation to educate others of the harm that they are unknowingly causing. Just something as simple as recycling can make a huge difference and can even lead to protecting a species that could potentially go extinct from the amount of waste products humans produce.

There are so many easy ways to help care for the environment and all of the different organisms that live all around us. Most of the things that people can do to help save the environment are extremely simple from recycling to turning the lights off when you leave a room or even taking shorter showers to conserve water.

Caring for the environment means a better future and a healthier living place for everyone. It is important for everyone to be educated about the environment and understand the impact they can make on the world. APES is a good class to learn all about how to save the earth.
