The Colorado Avalanche, NHL team, has so far been undefeated with a 6-0 record. Patrick Roy, the new coach of the Avalanche, and the first round draft pick they received has been a huge addition to this team.

Patrick Roy used to be the goaltender of the Colorado Avalanche from 1993-2006 and in 2006 he was entered into the hall of fame. Nathan Mackinnon is the leading point scorer for the Avalanche and was the first round draft pick.

“It’s pretty amazing, considering that the Avalanche was last place last year. Mackinnon, the first-round draft pick, has been a huge help to the team and has contributed a lot. I give the coach credit. He is doing a good job this year,” senior AJ Schaefer said.

The Colorado Avalanche has gained much recognition from the successful season they have been having. Two big contributions have been the new coach, Patrick Roy, as well as the first round draft pick, Nathan Mackinnon. Even people who don’t know much about hockey have heard from the media about how well the Avalanche is doing.

“I think it’s good because I didn’t know too much about the team earlier. I don’t know much about what the first-round draft pick is but I’m sure he has helped the team. I have heard positive of the coach’s name which means he is probably good,” sophomore Sienna Abeyta said.

Colorado Avalanche is one of the only two teams in the National Hockey League to be undefeated, which is a huge improvement from last year when they were last place. The team is having unbelievable success and is looking forward to a great year.
