Apart from volunteering their personal time, students who choose to participate in the Lewis-Palmer High School production of The King and I must make other sacrifices as well.

All actors are required to come to rehearsal every day for 9 weeks. Some students, who play Asian characters, were asked to dye their hair black for the play.

“I am happy I don’t have to, but if I was asked to, I would do it. The reward is better than the sacrifice.” said freshman Rob Kaylor.

However, more than just actors are giving their time to see a successful production. The LPHS Band has also put in many hours towards the musical portion of The King and I.

Theater Tech students are also asked to help with the production. They will be operating lights, sounds, and curtains at the performance.

The play premiers November 21st, and will also be shown the 22nd and the 23rd at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are on sale today. Visit the school website to purchase them.

The sacrifices that theater students make in order to have a successful production are just as big as the ones that athletes must make to prepare for a big game. In the end it makes a huge difference in the quality and accuracy of the play.
