On Thursday, October 17th, Jan, the school security guard, volunteered to get inside a cherry picker and stay in it one minute for every dollar donated to the Harvest of Love drive. She ended up staying in the cherry picker from 9:00 am until 2:15 pm.

Harvest of Love is a program that gets money and canned goods and donates them to people who need them throughout the community. Many of these canned goods go to those who need them during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

In 2011, Lewis-Palmer and Palmer Ridge combined collected over 11,000 pounds of food and $4,800 cash. All of these canned goods as well as the money donated went to people who needed it during this time of giving.

“I felt good while I was in the cherry picker. It was for a good cause, and we raised $217,” said Jan. She is looking forward to doing it again; this has been her third time.

If you would like to donate to Harvest of Love, look in various classrooms, donation places are scattered around the school.

Jan thanks everyone for participating in this great cause and she is looking forward to doing it again.
