Many high school teens these days love a variety of music including punk metal, rap, or country. The overall increasing interest in Indie music is developing fast. More than fifty percent of people from the age of fifteen to thirty have shown an increase in the interest and listening of Indie music within the past decade.  In 2012 alone, according to hypebot.com, Indie music grabbed thirty two percent of all record sales.

When listening to Indie there are ten top artists that make the cut of who to listen to that make an individual become an Indie fan. Artists such as Angus and Julia Stone, Passenger, The XX, Band of Horses, Awolnation, Atlas Genius, The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, MGMT, and Two Door Cinema Club among many others are included in the genre of Indie Rock.

“Indie music is probably one of the genres that contain the most talent, most originality, and is the genre that is most soulful compared to other genres that are too main stream” said Senior Randi Nielsen.

Indie differing from other sub genres is mainly focused on the feelings that can be evoked from listening to it. Indie, often being more melodic than other music, also is made mainly by independent record companies, once again proving not to be too main stream.

Indie draws different crowds yearly to concerts across the nation, but will continue to have an increased audience specifically in young adults, as it grows more popular.
