t’s cold and flu season again, so it’s only natural that many students are getting sick and missing school. A day off of school can be nice but anymore that one day can lead to a homework overload and unnecessary added stress.

In order to avoid devastation of grades, students should follow these steps to help make up work from sick days.

1)      Complete the assignments that you know are due and have them ready to turn in the day you get back.

2)      Get notes and new assignments from friends if you can or check online, so you are not behind on the lessons.

3)      Go and talk to the teachers of the classes you missed on the day you get back in order to get work that you missed and assistance in order to catch up with your class.

4)      If you miss a test, study on your sick days and make it up as soon as possible, during an off or study hall is ideal, while the information is still fresh in your mind and relevant to the new lessons.

5)      Most importantly, DO THE MAKE UP WORK. It will ensue that your grade stays up (no one likes missing assignments) and can be extremely helpful for upcoming tests.

So long as students stick to these simple steps, missing any length of school shouldn’t be an issue.
