Pompeii, a movie of intense fight scenes and a seemingly epic romance collide in a historical based movie about the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. This movie debuted on February 21, 2014 and is an entertaining, action-packed kind of film, similar to the movie Troy.

Milo, played by Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington, is an escaped slave turned gladiator who finds himself, along with fifty other slaves, headed to the city of Pompeii, a city that is trying to increase its tourism by re-building the city and increasing gladiator games. Meanwhile, Cassia, the daughter of the highest paid politician and a resident of Pompeii, played by Emily Browning, is just returning from the sinful city of Rome disgusted. Her father, who is going to re-do the city of Pompeii enlists the help of a Senator from Rome named Corvus in his plans. Little does her father know about the past between Corvus and Cassia, a past that is ultimately not welcomed. Milo eventually meets Cassia and a champion fighter, Atticus, who is another gladiator Milo has to kill in the arena. Mt. Vesuvius eventually erupts and wreaks havoc on the city of Pompeii and brings about the final closing scene that the audience has been waiting for.

Through many battle scenes and heart-wrenching moments, Pompeii brings plenty of enjoyment and action packed scenes between gladiators. Romance also plays a bigger part in this movie as the audience gets to see Milo and Cassia have a less than modern-day Roman love affair. While this movie will satisfy children and adults, the end is abrupt and disappointing. Even though the audience waits in anticipation for what they hope will not happen, they are unfortunately disappointed. The actors do a fabulous job of portraying this historical event and I highly recommend this movie for its entertaining qualities, despite its ending.
