As the snow melts, the sun reappears and the heavy coats come off thus begins the start of spring. Spring has begun making its way into Monument with the start of spring sports. LPHS offers an array of sports during the spring to all its students. Girls’ golf, girls’ tennis, girls’ soccer, baseball , both boy and girl lacrosse, as well as track all make up the list of the sports going on during the spring. These sports have either commenced practices or are in the midst of tryouts. Many are expected to have a great season.

However, the ever- changing Colorado weather has already been causing problems for these sports.  The newfound good weather has many students excited for the sunshine to be more consistent. Temperatures have reached into the high sixties over the past two weeks, with lows of below freezing and accompanied by snow.  The snow and high wind speeds have already cancelled the first track scrimmage and meet, boys’ lacrosse game, and girls’ tennis match. All of these sports have had to find time in their seasons reschedule these events.

Weather predictions for the Monument area, based off the website ‘weather.com’ have stated that light snow showers are to be expected this upcoming weekend, but the rest of March is expected to have traditional spring weather.
