Current teacher and former Lewis-Palmer student, Eleanor Rank, is working on transitioning from student to teacher and reminisces about her days as a LP student.

Mrs. Rank currently teaches English 4, Civics, and Intercom; and coaches the C team volleyball team.

“It’s awesome,” Ranks says, “I feel as though there is less to adapt to; it’s still the same LP.”

Rank graduated from Lewis-Palmer in 2010 and describes how LP has changed since she attended as a student.

“When I was in high school, there was not as big of a rivalry with Palmer Ridge [LP previously did not play PR in football].” Rank says. “The dress code is better now too; it’s less distracting. The students are dressed for success instead of laziness.”

Rank also must learn to balance being a new teacher with coaching volleyball. While other teachers are able to relax during their planning periods, Rank says she has had to utilize her planning periods in order to balance her activities.

When asked how she balances this she replied, “Very carefully. I dedicate lots of weekends to staying motivated. I have to think about the rest of my week.”

Not only does Rank balance her coaching position with her teaching position, but she also teaches two different subjects, social studies and English. Rank has had to count on other teachers for resources, and is glad she has respect from her students.

“My seniors respect me, and I’m glad I don’t have to try to act older than the freshmen. I always have other teachers to count on and use for resources, it’s easier to feel comfortable.” Rank says.

Rank is also familiar with some of her current student’s older siblings that attended Lewis-Palmer with her.

“It’s fun knowing my student’s siblings.” Rank says.

Ms. Rank has a promising future as a staff member at Lewis-Palmer highshool.
