Student Council is a class that can be taken at Lewis-Palmer High School. But for Ian Geoghan, sophomore, Student Council is more than just another class.

“I joined to be a leader in our school, and to become involved in the school as well,” Geoghan said.

Geoghan has been a member since the beginning of his high school years, and plans on continuing for the rest of high school. Currently, Geoghan is a Member at Large for this school year.

“Next year, hopefully I’ll be an officer,” Geoghan said.

An average day in the student government is not as typical a day as in most classes. It all depends on what activities need to be done that day.

“Every day tends to be busy. We start out with an opening meeting. Then we both split up by class to work. Sometimes we work together if it’s a bigger project like a dance. Then we have the closing meetings and are done,” Geoghan said.

These student representatives work to improve the climate of the school and also promote giving back to the community. They have a lot planned for the future with big events coming up.

. “We plan to make Student Council bigger, to expand upon it. We also want to get involved in the community more, while also creating interest with the students at Lewis-Palmer,” Geoghan said.

Student Council is currently helping out with Harvest of Love. To help out, donate to a teacher spare change or canned goods.
