The protagonists of Big Hero 6

Disney is notorious for making films that capture the hearts of its audience, and one of Disney’s most recent movies, Big Hero 6, is no exception. Based off of the marvel comic Big Hero 6, Disney transports its viewers into the land of San Fransokyo, a fictional city that plays off an interesting mix of Californian and Japanese culture. Within this world, an enticing story takes place, and it captivates until the end.
In San Fransokyo, robots are absolutely above today’s advances; so much so, it is common, though illegal to bet on, alley robot fights. This is where the main protagonist Hiro, a 14 year-old robotics prodigy, comes in. Using wit, Hiro scams the alley robot fighters until the point where he gets himself in quite a bit of trouble. Luckily he is saved by his brother Tadashi just in time, though not without a lecture. Tadashi, worried about Hiro’s reckless antics, takes him to the university Hiro likes to refer to as “The nerd school,” where Hiro becomes inspired to join because of the amazing technologies being developed there, including his brother’s invention, the loveable Baymax.
Big Hero 6 is a family-friendly movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. While still maintaining its innocent, kid-friendly nature, it also delves into sadder and deeper elements that slowly transition into Hiro growing up.
