Freshman from Lewis-Palmer High School’s varsity volleyball team take the court at the away game against Vista Ridge High School. The freshman played with the upperclassmen bringing in another big win for the Lewis-Palmer volleyball program. Especially leading into the last game Lewis-Palmer had many great runs with all four freshmen on the team.

The first game score 25 to 10, the freshman played the last game and definitely held their own among the upperclassmen. The freshmen all got put in at once, bringing cheers from the crowd middle hitter Kess Krutsinger, 9, got a hit to line off of the other freshman setter Sciacca’s middle set.

Kimmie Finkill, 9, has gone to all of the games since the season has started, said the thing that made this such an amazing game was how the freshman coming in showed the skill of the Lewis-Palmer Volleyball program and that the program is not based on grade but on skill level and hard work.

”The freshman going in are bettering the team just by showing the acceptance among the players,” Finkill said.

As the players all went in for the last game. The score was 25-13, the entire front row was full of lower classman and everyone was telling them how well they were playing. Finkill, as a volleyball player herself, said it was amazing to see the upperclassmen supporting the freshman and just watching as the freshman crushed the competition. Especially the other players who were encouraging them from the sidelines.

McKenna Sciacca had amazing sets that the other players hit, giving us points above the competition. The hitters, Riley Putnicki, Taylor Buckley, and Krutsinger all had practiced hits, blocks and covering. Buckley got a outside hit to middle that got the team another well earned point.

“It was some of the best plays all season,” Finkill said. This match paves way for next year’s Lewis-Palmer volleyball team and for the Championship coming up. The players really came together and they played as one team and family on and off the court.
“The future of Lewis-Palmer volleyball looks bright especially when looking at the freshman play,” Finkill said. “I will continue to support the Lady Rangers during the season.”
