The Lewis-Palmer Varsity Hockey team was prepared to take the ice, December 4th, for their game against Regis Jesuit High School. New year, new team, new plays, new wins. The hockey team has four injured players off of the ice this year, causing the team to have to work extra hard and play even harder.

Lewis-Palmer hockey lost the game 5-2, but the players’ were not discouraged by the loss.

“I like working hard. The harder you work, the more you win. Winning is definitely fun,” Connor Dockins, 11, said.

Dockins, has been playing hockey for eleven years and is skating for Varsity this year. Lewis-Palmer hockey tryouts started on the 12th of November. During that time, some people who tried out had to be let go and other players were brought on to show just how far they could help progress the team.

Coach Hal Jordan was more than ready to push the team to their limits so that they could “win, win, win this year.”

“It seems that coaches are pushing us to do things we haven’t done the past few years. They’re definitely going to push us hard this year,” Dockins said.

Having no limits, the Lewis-Palmer Hockey Team donates their time, blood, sweat and tears, metaphorically speaking of course, to their ice commitment.

“Coaches will definitely help us to the top. They’ve taught me everything I know about high school hockey,” Seth Dunham, 10, said.

Dunham played on Junior Varsity this year; this is the first year that Lewis-Palmer hockey has had two teams instead of just Varsity players.

“My motivation to win comes from the other players. The coaches say that I go to ‘battle’ with them. If I don’t work hard, I’ll let them all down,” Dunham said.

New freshman brought an aggressive edge to the team this year; the teammates push each other to their limits so that every upcoming game lost will not be played in vain.
