Lewis-Palmer High School, like every other high school, had incoming freshmen preparing for their first year in high school. This included new friends, new classes and a new schooling experience. As the year comes to a close the freshman are reflecting on how their year has gone.

“I have learned that in high school you should get good grades and get into college, but also make friends that can help you with things like homework. High school consists of a lot more work so I have really had to pay attention, focus, and use my time wisely,” Moira Hilton, 9, said.

Freshman year is coming to an end and the class of 2019 students have experienced their first year of high school.  These soon to be sophomores have learned many things about Lewis-Palmer High School.

“Don’t screw up on your first day of high school,  I have learned to listen to your teachers, surprisingly they know what they talking about. In high school just be nice to people, and be yourself even if it’s hard, just do it,” Logan Verrie, 9, said.

For freshman, high school was a new world that was filled with many fears of the upcoming years. It consisted of using your lockers, finding your way around the campus and a school life that was different from junior high years.

“Getting good grades is one of the hardest parts of high school, it is one of the many stressors. If you don’t get good grades, they go on your record for a long time, even though you’re just a freshman,”Verrie said. “Friends can be stressful because if you don’t have any friends, your high school year would be lonely. Just be nice and be yourself. Yes, freshmen are at the bottom of the school, because we are young we don’t know much compared to the upperclassmen.”

Movies, books and TV shows portray freshmen as being the bottom of the school. While some people see the freshmen as being equal to the upperclassmen.

“I don’t think that freshmen are seen as the bottom, I know a whole bunch of people who are friends with upperclassmen. It’s not like everybody hates each other here. It’s not that hard to make friends, there are many people here to meet,” Hilton, 9, said. “My friends have shaped my high school year by helping with things like homework, and dealing with the stresses of high school, they have made my high school experience so much better.”

From middle school to high school was a big transition. Freshman year was the first year to make the big change from all your previous years into high school life, and now freshman year is come to the end for the class of 2019.
