“The students are getting prepared for finals.”

It’s that time of year again, finals. The students of Lewis-Palmer High School are getting ready to take their finals in only a couple of weeks with little review time.

For freshmen this is their first year of finals. Jaelyn Wilson, 9,  this is her first year living in Colorado, and this is her first year attending Lewis-Palmer High School. Since this is her first year taking finals, this is how she feels about the finals.

“I’m actually really nervous because you have to sit in a room for hours doing a series of test and these finals can determine what your grade is. All your work could easily go from 90 to 65,” Wilson said.

There are many different ways to get prepared for finals, they could do a couple days before or they could be studying right now. Wilson explains what she does to get prepared for finals.

“Eating right and getting enough sleep for better focus and understanding,” Wilson said.

Carlie Shafer 11 has just recently moved to Monument, when she was at her old school her finals were different than our finals are. Here is what Schafer does to get prepared for finals.

“I get prepared by studying a couple days before because then it is still fresh in my mind and also I don’t do it right before because then you try to cram it in all at once and that normally doesn’t end well,” Schafer 11 said.

Many teachers are getting ready for their students to take their finals. They have to make sure that their students are prepared and ready to go. Mrs. Kavanaugh who teaches math thinks this.

“Not yet, they do need to start taking it seriously though especially freshmen. When they start to do their review I think they will be ready but as of right now, no,” Kavanaugh said.

After finals are over with so is the semester and then we have holiday break. Carlie Schafer is a Junior but it is her first year at Lewis-Palmer high school.

“I’m definitely ready for break I wish finals would be already over with and we could go to Holiday break now,” Schafer 11 said.

This year is no different as the students and teachers prepare for finals. There are some teachers who are preparing now for the exams, and they’re trying to make sure that they have covered everything the students need to know.

Preparing for finals can seem like a bad thing but also is good because right after finals is Holiday Break. So as the students prepare for finals they need to remember that as soon as they accomplish their last test they have time to sleep in and enjoy break.
