On the third of April, the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious series was released. Following various setbacks and the death of one the movie’s stars, Paul Walker, the movie still blew the gates open on its debut. Rating eight or higher on nearly every critic piece, it became the highest grossing film so far in 2015.

On opening weekend, IMAX played the movie in over eight hundred theaters, which is the largest worldwide rollout for any movie in IMAX’s history.

The movie boasted a monster cast featuring actors such as Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson. It was incredible that the film was even able to be finished, as main character, Paul Walker died before production was finished. Paul’s brothers were used as stand ins and state of the art technology was used to create a near perfect match for Paul’s face and voice.

Following the plotline of the previous movie, the characters struggle against a terrorist group, and also find themselves in trouble with the American government.

Featuring many major stunt scenes, such as driving cars out of planes in mid- air, or a bus driving off of a cliff, this was a highly action packed movie. The film also had high emotional attachment to the viewers, because it is the last installment of the series, and because of the death of Paul Walker.

Walkers character, Brian O’Conner, is however not killed off in the movie. He is however “retired” in an emotional scene with a song dedicated to him from Wiz Khalifa.

Furious 7 is scheduled to play in theaters for a few weeks to come, and will hit DVD in August.
