Doctor Strange is the 14th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and ties in with the other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Doctor Strange is based on the comic book created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and after 11 years of Production Limbo, Doctor Strange saw his first appearance on the big screen in November of 2016. When Doctor Strange was released it made 600 million dollars in one weekend.

The film starts with the world’s top neurosurgeon, Dr. Steven V. Strange, as we witness him succeed in his field of work. Because of his never-ending success, Strange developed a sense of bravado and begins to disconnect from his friends. On the way to an expo, Strange got in a car accident which caused him to lose movement in his hands. Strange then tried all methods of modern healing to recover so that return to his field of work. Strange then turned to the ancient arts where he not only learned to master magic but to also be more compassionate and loving.

Strange is different from the other heroes in the Marvel Universe because of how human he is. In the Marvel films, we see all powerful heroes such as Iron Man who buys his power and Thor who is a god. This is why people don’t feel tense when most Marvel heroes battle their adversary. Not only that but they don’t struggle in their fights. The reason why Doctor Strange is distinct is because he struggles with every single fight and there is a real threat that he could die.

The music is nothing to write home about, just like in another marvel movie the movie is generic and bland and sounds like something that could be found on youtube. That being said the music isn’t bad it’s just there.

Special effects are this movie’s highlight. There are scenes that mirror Inception with parts of London and New York being folded and contorted. There are also scenes in which they are so deranged that it might be that the graphics department was on acid when designing these scenes. This would not work with another Marvel Movie but, because of Strange’s environment and the story, it works perfectly.

The sole reason that Doctor Strange is the lack of one-liners. The reason that Ant-Man was amazing was because the movie did not depend on the one-liners to drive dialogue instead using situational comedy like we see in Doctor Strange. Even still Doctor Strange does not focus primarily on the comedy and they decided to instead, drive Strange’s character. There is still humor in the movie and it gives the dialogue a nice mixture.

This movie is fantastic. Strange’s character is awesome, the special effects are mesmerizing, and the dialogue has a perfect blend. For these reasons Doctor Strange is the best Marvel Movie since Ant-Man and deserves a 9/10.
